|
| | | | 1) What is the difference between Daylight / Total Spectrum bulbs and the bulbs I see in a store or the bulbs I received from my electric company? The color of light produced by the bulb is the difference between the
bulbs. Daylight / Total spectrum bulbs have white light providing better "see-ability" of print, color, detail, etc. There are warrantees on the bulb.Other bulbs produce yellow light which matches incandescent light. This results in significant glare . All of the bulbs are types of energy – saving, low heat compact fluorescent bulbs. The shape of the bulb varies from manufacturer.

We have a 3-way bulb that replaces a 40-70-150 watt incandescent bulb. Our bulb only uses 32 watts at the maximum level. If you use a Total Spectrum bulb that is not a 3-way bulb, it will work on the second setting of the lamp and will stay the same brightness on the third setting. There is no variation in the brightness in our bulb.

|
| | | | 9) Why do fluorescent style lights (i.e. tubes and compact flourescent bulbs produce different colors of light?
Fluorescence is a way to create light. Phosphors are used in a tube and produce light. Different recipes of phosphors are used to create different colors of light. The most common color of fluorescent light is "cool white". It is used in most public buildings, home and offices. Cool white light emits glare and often makes a room look dingy or yellowish. Another frequent color of fluorescent light is warm or soft white. This appears as pinkish
orange. This has glare and often fatigues the eyes and body. Total Spectrum light
appears white and gives the feeling of being outdoors or under skylights. The room looks clean and colors appear vivid and natural. The atmosphere generally feels calmer and more relaxed.[ Back to the top of the page ]
